In de Middeleeuwen bidden geestelijken dagelijks op vaste tijdstippen, ook wel getijden genoemd. Met de komst van getijden- en gebedenboeken in de Nederlandse taal wordt het ook voor leken, mensen die niet tot de geestelijke stand behoren, mogelijk om de getijden te bidden. Deze boeken behoren in de vijftiende eeuw tot de populairste boeken van de Noordelijke Nederlanden.

Description
Het boek bevat drie miniaturen van een oorspronkelijke serie van zes. Pinksteren (f. 19v), Maria met kind (f. 25v) en koning David in gebed (f. 80v) worden aan alle vier zijden omgeven door gestileerde acanthusblaadjes, bloemen en ranken. De stijve bewegingloze figuren hebben starende uitdrukkingsloze gezichten. De dominante kleuren zijn grijs en blauw, waarbij ook goud is aangebracht. De gehistorieerde initialen bevatten acht scènes uit het leven van Christus, vanaf de visitatie tot de vlucht naar Egypte, en eindigend met de Piëta. Tien andere tonen een afbeelding van een heilige. De volgorde van de teksten is anders dan in Nederlandse handschriften. Hier ziet men eerst de H. Kruisgetijden, H. Geestgetijden, mis van Maria, Mariagetijden en Mariagebed, gevolgd door zeven boetpsalmen en litanie, dodenofficie en suffragiën.
